Intel recently announced that they will be shifting the driver support for 10th generation and older Intel processors to a legacy software support model. The DCH driver version 31.0.101.2111 will apply to those older generations, whereas the driver version 31.0.101.3222 will be installed if you have the 11th or 12th generation processor. Furthermore, this is the first driver update from Intel that includes support for the upcoming Windows 11 version 22H2 feature update. This feature update is already available for Windows Insiders, and will soon hit the stable channel in the few months. In this post, we are going to list all the processors that have been affected by the decision, as well as the new improvements and issues in this recent driver update.
Intel Processor Generations Receiving Legacy DCH Drivers
This section lists down the older Intel processors that will receive the legacy driver updates. These updates will only include critical fixes and security vulnerabilities.

It seems that Intel is still not sure when these older processors will receive the update – it can be on an as-needed basis or a quarterly release cadence. Although Intel’s 10th generation processors are only 4 years old (at the time of writing this article), Intel believes it is time to focus on the newer generations. The following list of processors have been impacted by Intel’s decision to shift to a legacy software support model:
