What’s New in Google Chrome 97
Delete Data Saved by Websites
You can now delete all data saved by a website on your browsing. Previously, you were only able to delete cookies for individual websites. However, chunks of other information were still stored. With Chrome 97, you can now delete your data from a website and maintain your privacy. After updating to Chrome 97, this setting can be found at the following path: On this page, you can clear data across all websites by clicking Clear all data, or click on the 3 dots in front of a website and click Clear data to remove information from a specific website.
Zoom Setting Will Now Save on Mobile
You can zoom in and out of a page in Google Chrome using the Ctrl + “+/-” shortcut keys or Ctrl + mouse scroll to view it better on a desktop. Chrome for desktop saves this setting and maintains it for the next time you visit the same website. However, this was not the case for the mobile version of Google Chrome. Chrome 97 for mobile will now also save your zoom preferences for individual websites. However, this is only an experimental feature right now, which will need to be enabled manually. Perform the steps below to do so: Chrome will now remember your zoom settings for every website.
Better Web Application Layouts
Web applications are a blessing in disguise which allows you to gain the experience of a standalone application via a web browser. However, in the past, the interface for the web apps through Google Chrome kind of gave it away that it was a web app, and not a native application. However, now, web applications are looking like they belong to the operating system. The area at the top of the web applications (top bar) has been redesigned to make the apps look more integrated.
HDR Where Supported
Developers are now able to detect whether your system supports HDR and then enable HDR content. This prevents the machines that do not support the feature and have HDR enabled, resulting in a bad overall experience.
