Web page redirection is a common and very useful concept in the world of internet. It helps in keeping the ever changing arena of internet intact. There could be any number of reasons which could force us to move content of an existing page to a new URL location. Ideally this should be done using HTTP redirect status codes like 301. These status codes are industry standards, so all the search engines honor them and do not give thumbs down upon seeing such content movement. This article is not about how to do redirection. I am writing it because a few minutes ago I needed to see if a particular URL had a 301 redirect on it. Because 301 code permanently redirects an existing URL to a new one –and browsers would not show if there are any content present on the redirecting page –it is a bit tricky to find if a URL is redirecting with 301 code. You can use a tool present on Internet Officer to see what status code is returned by the submitted URL. So, if the URL is redirecting –this utility will tell you whether it is a 301 code or something else. You can access. Next question on your mind could be; why was I looking for such a geeky answer?
